MOVING WINDMILLS PROJECT
Inspired by the work of William Kamkwamba, Moving Windmills Project was founded in 2008 to pursue rural economic development and education projects in Malawi, Africa.
Our motto is, “African Solutions to African Problems.” Rather than invest in top-down, externally imposed agendas, Moving Windmills works with local leaders to determine, organize and implement the appropriate solutions. Areas of focus include: food, clothing, shelter, sanitation, health, education, clean water and community building.
Moving Windmills Project seeks financial support for community initiatives in Wimbe, Malawi. Contribute to the general project fund, or, if you wish to send funds to a specific initiative, choose a donation category. Categories include books for the library, where William first read about windmills, secondary school scholarships, a new primary school, a new windmill and much more.
This year, the Siena Community will help to raise money to go towards one of these initiatives. To donate money directly, go to http://www.movingwindmills.org/donate. Offices in the Siena Community will have mason jars available to donate loose change. The Director of FYE will coordinate efforts in collecting the money and donating it to the Moving Windmills Project.
